Hi! My name is S. Kay Nash and I’m a lifelong fan of speculative fiction and horror. I’ve worked as a freelance editor since 2014, and have over 20 years of experience in writing and editing.
My career in marketing communications, website content management, and grant writing for corporations and nonprofits honed my writing, editing, and reader engagement skills. In 2016, I set all the corporate buzzwords and white papers aside to focus primarily on speculative fiction and horror.
I’ve been involved in this genre for many years. In 1996, I launched The Orphic Chronicle, a webzine dedicated to SF, fantasy, and horror. It won some now-forgotten web awards and was my first step into the publishing world. In 2014, I took on the job of editing The Bookie Monster, a site dedicated to the horror genre. I also volunteered as an Associate Editor at Escape Pod for five years. During that time, the podcast was nominated for the Hugo Award two times. My current freelance work includes editing websites, anthologies, and novels for independent authors and small-press publishers.
If you’re an author of speculative fiction, you need an editor who knows the current trends as well as the classics. You can find me at SF and horror conventions like Worldcon, StokerCon, Multiverse, and others.
